I am having trouble getting my newly defined restricted fund to appear in the list that is available in accounts payable invoice when selecting the button 'Release Restricted Funds'. Software version 10.4, here are my details:
4135-400 Mission Income (Income), closes to 3285-400 Mission (Net Asset)
4885-400 Mission Rlse (Income), box checked 'This account is a release account'. Closes to 3285-400 Mission (Net Asset)
3285-400 Mission (Net Asset) type of equity acct: Temporarily Restricted
Any help would be appreciated, need to write monthly mission checks. Just started this year using the restricted accounts.

All those accounts are setup right. What kind of problem are you having?
Normally when you write the checks, your entry is going to look something like this:
01-1110-000 bank account credit for amount of the check
01-5555-000 missions expense debit for amount of the check
When you select the release restricted funds, it will add the following lines to your transaction.
01-4885-400 Mission Release debit for amount of restricted money used
01-4999-000 Unrestricted Release credit for amount of restricted money used
So when you use restricted money, you will have at least a 4 line transaction, it could be more.

When I go into Accounts Payable to prepare an invoice to write the mission checks, the newly defined mission restricted fund does not appear in my list, when I click the 'Release from restricted' button.
I CR the checking account, DR the Mission Expense account. But I need to release the amount from restricted, typically done by pressing the available button, which brings up my list to choose from. This new fund is not one of the choices. I performed a reindex, but this did not help.

I set them up manually in the chart of accounts, by mimicking one that works fine. This may be the problem. It is not showing up under 'Maintain Donor Restrictions'. It had been so long since I set one up, I must have forgot about this 'Maintain donor restrictions'. What is your suggestion to correct this? I have already posted the month of January to these restricted funds, I am now ready to write the checks, release the restricted amount, setting the restricted amount back to zero to begin February.
