Problem restoring data from disk

Post by RayBell »

I am using version 7 and trying to load the data on my home pc. When I restore from floppy and go through all of the steps (no error messages and no conformation message either) none of the data loads??? Please help, I'm now 2 weeks behind. I recently took over the position and I'm new to the program. I verify the disketts and they check out okay. This is my second batch of backup disk that I'm having problems with. One thing, my pc and the church pc are running different OS. I'm on Win xp and the church pc that I made the backups on is Win95. Thanks so much.

Ray,

The different OS shouldn't matter, as the format is the same.

Two questions:

1. Did you install PC+ V7 directly from the original installation disks?
2. Did you apply all necessary maintenance releases ??

I found your downloads for the maint releases... is there a way I can check to see if the software on the Church's PC has already been upgraded?

I'm not an employee, just a long time user.

From within Powerchurch, press ALT-F1 (the ALT key and the F1 key at the same time), the Powerchurch software info screen will appear. Under the system information tab, check the program date. It should show the date of the maintenance release if the system has been updated.

For version 7, the last maintenance release was 01/02/2003.

Hope this helps.

I did the upgrade on both pc's; still no luck... I even tried to restore the data on a different pc running windows 2000, which is what is on the church pc. I verified the disk and they continue to check out okay... the restore process runs fine, yet I dont get any data on the receiving PC. I've been working with the powerchurch support folks as well, no luck..... any help would be appreciated.

Well ... if the Powerchurch staff can't help ... I'm not sure what else can be done.

Ray,
When you talked to a tech here, did they have you send in your data for us to look at? We could see if we can restore it here. I have seen cases where a misaligned floppy drive can cause weird problems to happen. For instance, disks written on a misaligned drive read fine on that same drive, but cannot be read on other drives. Normally, you get an error message when that happens though. There are all kinds of little things that can happen.
