How Do I Update My Iowa Tax Tables?

Where do I find the tax tables?

For IA tax tables, you will need the current IA Withholding Formula and Instructions from the IA Department of Revenue.

Which tables do I use?

Use the Withholding Formula detailed on page 1 on the Witholding Formula and Instructions booklet. The images below show the relevant information to enter in PowerChurch.

Note that the figures shown in this document are for demonstration purposes only, and may not be current. Please consult the current publication for the most up-to-date information. Though the figures change periodically, the method of calculation should remain the same. If the calculation method has changed for this state please notify the webmaster.

How to setup/update the tables in PowerChurch Plus

To setup/update PowerChurch Plus with the state tax table, select the Accounting menu, Payroll, Setup, then Maintain Tax Tables. There was a redesign of the Iowa tax tables for tax year 2025, so you will see Iowa (Pre-2025) and Iowa (Post-2025). You will receive a warning if existing employees have the old style tables assigned on or after 01/01/2025.

There will be separate tables needed for employees who DO have a 2024 or 2025 IA W-4 form on file and those who DO NOT (2023 and prior IA-W4 forms).

Click Add to enter a new table, or use the Find/Locate buttons to select an existing IA tax table to update. When adding a new table, you will be prompted for the type of tax table you're adding. Select State: Iowa (Post 2025). For each table, enter the following information:

  • Description: Enter a unique name to identify the tax table (for example, "IA - Single - 2024/25 W4").
  • Tax type: The type of tax in which this table applies. In this instance, select State Tax.
  • Deduction: Enter the amount for the annual deduction. There are two separate tables published for those with 2024/25 IA-W4 forms and those with 2023 and prior forms.

  • Round tax to nearest whole dollar: If required, check this box to round the calculated tax amount to the nearest whole dollar.
  • Withholding tax rate: Enter the flat tax amount published in the Withholding Formula and Instructions document.

Repeat that process for any other Marital statuses for employees with 2023 or 2024/25 IA W-4 forms as needed.
